1888. Oil on canvas, 14″ x 26″. Framed in Cassetta frame No. 1000—2-1/2″ + Cap 318—1-1/4″ + Sub 15.3—5/8″ (4″ total width), in quartersawn white oak (Saturated Medieval Oak).
The cassetta is a classic frame type dating back to the Renaissance. It’s characterized by a flat with inner and outer moldings. In this case the flat is lap-joined. We designed this frame to be both rustic but also formal to echo the accomplished rendering of forms.
It’s a privilege to frame a William Keith, one of the true masters of California painting, and to frame this extraordinary work of his was a real honor.
