Robin Moore (b. 1956), “Evening, Spud Point Marina, Bodega Bay”

2008. Watercolor, 9-1/8″ x 12-1/4″ Horizontal. Framed Compound Mitered frame No. 108 + Sub-408 in cherry (Deep Red-Brown stain).

I completely fell for this painting of Robin’s when she brought it in, and it inspired a frame that had to harmonize perfectly with the refinement and simplicity and very, very quiet mood of the painting. I like the complementary red-brown with the blue — although Robin expertly gave an ostensibly cool painting a very warm feel with rose undertones, so the harmony there to be had with a stained cherry. The tight grain of the cherry suited the glassy water. Beads echo the masts. That’s all you need.
