1883. Pencil on paper, ca. 10″ x 13″. Framed in No. 183.8.1 — 2-1/2″ in qtrsawn white oak (Light Medieval Oak), with gilt oak slip.
The challenge in framing this piece was to provide it with the simplicity and humble feeling achievable by framing close, but to do so in harmony with the delicate lines and shading of the picture. The frame’s flat provides space, and the bead and tight scoop at the outside the right refinement.
