1898. Oil on canvas, 16″ x 24″. Framed in Compound Mitered Frame No. 208—2-1/2″ + Cap 410—1″ + Subframe 408—1″ (4-1/4″ total), in quartersawn white oak (Medieval Oak stain).
The key in framing this piece is balancing the ruskin setting and soft, feminine subject. A slope was chosen for the perspective, but also to echo the sloping ground, but especially to take the viewer into a distant, quiet time. The plain form is right for the open space, and has suitable rounded elements.
