Carl Sammons (1886-1968), (mountain scene)

Pastel on board, 10″ x 14″. Framed in Compound Mitered frame No. 208—2” + Cap No. 188—5/8″, in quartersawn white oak (Medieval Oak stain) with slip in white gold leaf.

Sammons (learn more…) was a very fine pastel artist, and we’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to frame a number of his pieces. The perspective and angles of the mountain slopes called for a bevel, or slope, for the overall form. The combination of a fine beads and coarse quartersawn oak felt just right for the rustic subject matter treated with refinement. Framed with a gasket mat to separate the pastel from the Museum glass.
