Framed for the Figge Art Museum, Davenport, Iowa. The Manager of Collections and Exhibitions told me a couple of years later that, “Everyone comments on the Birge Harrison painting you reframed for us. It is as if they have never seen the painting before, though it has been in the collection since 1929.” That’s pretty good evidence of the crucial effect the frame has in allowing the viewer to see the painting.
