Framing Mick McGinty

A very satisfied customer left here this afternoon with this spectacular 20″ x 30″ contemporary oil painting of the Grand Canyon.

Trevor Davis, who made the frame, with customer Russ Lindsay of Nevada Fine Art

Russ Lindsay of Nevada Fine Art had brought in this prime example of the work of Arizona painter Mick McGinty, whom he represents, and saw in the showroom some of our carved samples with geometric patterns reminiscent of Native American decorative work. Trevor Davis did a beautiful job on the hand carved compound mitered frame in quartersawn white oak with a pale gold slip. (Scroll down to see the corner detail.) We wanted the profile to be fairly simple and rustic but with detail suitable to the fine rendering in the painting, and to celebrate this powerful piece in a manner evocative of the southwest. The slope enhances the perspective, and the hard lines echo the characteristic sedimentary rock layers.

Love McGinty’s work, and hope to frame more of it for Russ.
