WOODS: Available in any wood.
The essential cabinetmaker’s frame. Typically made with blind-tenons, but may also have through-tenons (flush through-tenons especially recommended; see photo at bottom of page). Horizontal members may be let into the sides, or vice-versa, as you like (orientation typically chosen to enhance proportions of the picture). Your choice of corner treatment.
