Narrow mouldings to fit inside
a larger frame, liners add dimension and definition. Used with a mortise-and-tenon
frame, they help draw the eye inward toward the artwork, and enhance perspective.
Our gilt liners are 22 kt gold leaf laid directly on oak, revealing the
distinctive coarse oak grain a popular period technique. We show
online our two most popular liner profiles.

LINER EXAMPLES

While most frames today are joined from pre-finished molding, all Holton frames
are closed-corner frames — they’re sanded and finished after joining. This
makes for stronger, cleaner and more even corners. Learn
